Patriotic Punch

Today on the calendar is make a red, white, and blue craft. We made this patriotic punch for the Fourth of July, but with a little creativity, you can make one for anything!

You need:

3 drinks: one red, one white, and one blue. The trick to the punch is to have each drink have a different sugar content. Check the nutrition label to see how much sugar each drink has.
Ice cubes

 1. Fill your glass with ice.
2. Choose the drink with the most sugar. Pour this one over the ice so it's at the bottom.
3. Choose the drink with the medium amount of sugar. Pour very slowly over the ice.
4. Choose the last drink with the least amount of sugar. Pour very, very slowly over the ice.

You can experiment with different drinks and flavors to make fun punches. You can make drinks with only two flavors, or make one with four or even five! Get creative and see what you can do.

Enjoy your Patriotic Punch!

Doll-sized S'mores

One of the recipes in the new camping e-book is a s'more buffet. There's a real recipe for you, and a craft one for your dolls. But I thought that it would be fun to share a real one for your dolls too!

We found mini graham crackers at the store, and we also picked up mini marshmallows and chocolate bars.

The chocolate bars need to be broken in half to fit on the crackers.

Melt the marshmallows (in the microwave, on the stove or over a campfire. Just make sure an adult is with you!) and make the s'mores.

My dolls enjoyed their summer snack! Do you have a favorite summer recipe? Or maybe you've made a fun doll food lately out of something else. Whatever it is, we would love to hear about it! Leave a comment and let us know!

Enjoy your s'mores!!

Doll Jeans

Tomorrow on the calendar is take pictures. Take the time to just go around with your camera and take pictures. You might be surprised at what you get!
But today I'd thought that I'd show you the doll jeans that are finally finished! I did manage to get both pairs out of the shorts, and was pretty happy with the results.

What do you think?

I have been wanting to make jeans for my dolls for a long time, and now that I have them, I know that I'll be using them a lot.

They're perfect for the girl on the go...

or just hanging out for an afternoon.

The jeans have elastic in the top (which also came from the shorts!), so I didn't have to use any buttons or snaps. Although this made it easier, one day I would like to try making a 'real' pair of jeans, with snaps and pockets and all that. :)

We'll have lots of fun with these jeans!

Summer Photoshoot

It's finally time for the summer photoshoot! Although the calendar says to run through the sprinkler (which you still should! It's a perfect way to cool off in all of this heat.), today we're showing off the girls' new dresses. :) After planning, making patterns, and sewing, it was finally time to put them on. They turned out pretty nicely, if I do say so myself. :) But they did come out a bit long, although that was solved by tucking under the hem. We went up to our grandparents' house and I decided to take the pictures there. It was a beautiful day for it, if not a bit windy!

Marissa's hair was braided at the top into two small braids. Then I pulled them back and tied them in a loose double knot. The result: a fairy princess crown!

For Robin I braided her hair into two braids, and tied them each with a bit of blue yarn. It would be fun to try this style with different strings, like ribbon, strips of fabric, or even ric-rac!

After a long day, chillin' in a hammock is a perfect thing to do. :)
What about you? What do you like to do in the summer? Whatever it is, we hope you have fun and stay cool!
