Paper Butterflies

Butterflies are one of the most beautiful things about summer. And even though summer is almost over, these paper butterflies will last all year long!

First we painted a sheet of paper. You can use watercolor paint, or do what we did and scribble on washable markers.

Then just go over it with water and a paintbrush.
Let dry.

Cut into squares. We made ours 2" on each side (and some smaller ones with the extra paper), but you can make any size that you want.

Fold each square accordion-style,

then tie around the middle with thread.

Spread their wings and watch them fly!

P.S. There's a butterfly photoshoot coming soon too!
