Something Blue, Felt flowers and a New Quilt

I have so much to post about today!

(as you could probably tell from the title:))

To start with, Eyebright, over at

is having a weekly photo challenge.

I didn't post in time for the last two,

but I'm doing it now!

This week's challenge is to take a picture of something blue.

I've been making felt flowers and took a picture of a blue poppy.

I made poppies, irises, roses, daffodils and tulips.

A bouquet of the flowers I made.

I also finished making a quilt.

I've had the fabric picked out since last year,

but just finished making it now!

I've been using the quilt to sit outside under our blooming trees.

Maybe the trees will be my next post!

Outside My Window

Sorry I haven't posted in so long! Things have been busy

with my ballet coming up soon and with my brothers

starting baseball.

I'm starting a new theme called Outside My Window.

Every other week, I'll (try) to post pictures of what's

happening outside my window. Here's the first one!

It was raining yesterday, and after it stopped,

I took some pictures of my plants with water droplets on them.

This first one is a lilly-of-the-valley.

I was playing around with the camera,

and took this shot of a drop of water on the tip of an iris plant.

I was surprised the the picture came out as nicely as it did!

This last on is my favorite. After I figured out how to take close ups,

I knew that I had to get one of the lilly-of-the-valleys

After many tries, and lots of deleting, I finally got a very nice picture.

That's all for now. I'll try and post sooner next time!

Chalkboard Crate

Yesterday I made a chalkboard crate.
First, I took a clementine crate
then I painted it with chalkboard paint.
The chalkboard paint is fun to use, although it takes a while
to dry. First, I painted one layer, then I let it dry for an hour,
then I painted another layer, let it dry for another hour,
then I finally painted it one last time and let it dry overnight.
Next, I covered the bottom with paper because of the holes in the wood.

The crate will be used in my mom's office for her papers, but it
turned out so nice, I might have to make one for myself!
